Retail Digital Transformation

Jumbo Kid Zone

Four markets. One custom retail software infrastructure.

Generation Y designed and developed a custom multi-country retail software infrastructure for Jumbo KID Zone across Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Rather than treating the project as four separate online stores, we created a shared architectural and operational foundation that preserved one consistent brand experience and business logic, while giving each market the autonomy to manage its own products, content, pricing, stock, currencies, languages, tax rules, payments and logistics. Each market operates through its own localised environment and connects with its own ERP, banking and delivery ecosystem, while remaining part of one coherent regional retail model.

The challenge

One retail brand. Four different operating environments.

The challenge was not to build four websites. It was to launch a major retail brand simultaneously across four markets, each operating under a different technological, commercial and regulatory reality.

Every country had its own ERP environment, product availability, pricing, currency, language, tax structure, payment methods and logistics partners. The infrastructure had to accommodate those local differences without fragmenting the brand experience or creating four unrelated technology projects.

The commercial requirements added another layer of complexity. The system had to support advanced promotional scenarios, including discounts based on order value or quantity, product bundles, bonus products, customer-selected gifts, fixed-price combinations, exclusive promotions and special or free-shipping conditions.

The solution also had to connect the online and physical retail experience through services such as in-store product availability, store locator and pick-up in store, while integrating local banks, payment gateways and courier providers.

All of this had to be researched, designed, developed, integrated, localised, tested and launched within a five-month delivery window.

Our approach

A shared retail backbone, localised by design.

We designed a custom multi-country retail software infrastructure on Generation Next, using a shared architecture, design system and business logic as the foundation for all four markets.

Each country was implemented as an autonomous retail environment with its own domain, content management, product mix and local operations. This gave each team the flexibility to manage its market independently, while preserving a consistent Jumbo KID Zone experience across the region.

The infrastructure connected each market with its own ERP system. Product data, category structures, pricing policies, stock availability, customer information and orders flowed between the retail platform and the corresponding local back-office environment. The delivered setup includes KUBIT integrations across three markets and Pantheon in Montenegro, creating a country-specific connection between digital retail operations and each local business system.

We also developed and configured local integrations with banking partners, payment gateways and courier providers. Every market could therefore apply its own payment, delivery, taxation and fulfilment logic without requiring a different technology strategy.

At customer-experience level, the platforms included advanced product discovery, dynamic filters, full-text search, store availability, pick-up options, personalised content areas and localised checkout journeys.

To meet the five-month deadline, the project was delivered through coordinated parallel workstreams covering architecture, UX and design, platform development, ERP documentation, third-party integrations, localisation, quality assurance, user acceptance testing, training and launch preparation.

The results

Four markets live in five months and a foundation built to evolve.

Within five months, Jumbo KID Zone launched across four Balkan markets through a fully operational custom retail infrastructure, with one ERP integration per country and local connections to payment and delivery partners.

The project gave each market the autonomy to operate according to its own commercial and logistical requirements, while maintaining a consistent architecture, brand experience and operational logic across the region.

The result was not simply four live storefronts. It was a scalable retail technology foundation connecting digital sales, product data, inventory, pricing, promotions, payments and fulfilment across multiple countries.

Today, the delivered infrastructure continues to serve as the digital commerce backbone of Jumbo KID Zone in Southeast Europe. The next stage of the roadmap builds on this existing foundation, exploring unified customer data, omnichannel order management, cross-channel promotions, stronger product information management and an expanded integration layer, evidence that the original project was designed as an evolving retail ecosystem rather than a disposable storefront implementation.

Local where it matters. Unified where it counts.
